Today, the team got Euan and Amanda baking a couple of the recipes for sweet treats they’ll be
selling at The Platform following the official opening event on Wednesday 25 April. Euan and
Cassandra made Malteser tray bake, while Amanda and Michael made shortbread.
Euan Craig, Chief Executive Officer at Exemplar Health Care, said: "It’s great to be part of such
fantastic project and to get into the community and to be involved. Today has been a great
example of rising to challenges - everyone has risen to the baking challenges today and it is
great to be a part of that.
“The Platform project is a fantastic example of what we want all of our homes to
be doing in the future. Projects like these are examples of how Exemplar as a company are
really forward thinking and wanting to go to extra lengths for our service users.”
From barista training, to budgeting, interior design, and training in health and safety and
Food Hygiene, the Platform team have worked hard to develop all the skills they need to launch
their new venture.
Service user Cassandra has made the uniforms for the new shop. She said: “I love taking part in activities– especially baking, so today has been fun. It was really good to have Euan and Amanda here today to help us make cookies. I love the things we get to do and I’m excited for the coffee shop to open.”
The Platform is set to launch on 25 April 2018 and will be officially opened by former Doncaster’s Paralympic medal-winner turned actor Kevin Davies.
